Kloss is the boss

Girl must be getting a killer pay check. The fresh face who seems to be putting a lot of other girls out of work, Karlie Kloss, is all over the fall campaigns: Dior, Lola by Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Oscar de la Renta, just to name a few. I feel like she just bursted onto the scene and already has fashion's tastemakers in her back pocket. And, the one little fact that makes us all feel like schmucks? She's only 17.

Fashion's Night Out - Cute!

Image Crush

I love beetle juice

Although I am one to shriek at the site of a spider (and most often yell for my roommate to kill it for me), I think Bottega Veneta's line of neon beetle baubles is crawling with a sort of sophisticated grade school charm. I can imagine the sterling silver scarab beetle bangle being the modern woman's new-age friendship bracelet. And for $360, this is a damn good friend indeed.

Was I speeding officer?

Breaking news: Blake Lively is arrested for taking it to a fierce level while in a mildly chic zone. Shot by Craig McDean for Interview Magazine's September 2010 issue, Blake Lively is cuffed and playing it cool wearing a bevy of black in boxy furs, sheer chiffon and scandalous thigh-highs. Although I think the majority of the images are a chic twist on the modern bad girl, the shoot as a whole seems a bit bland. Even within the monochromatic theme, there doesn't seem to be enough variation in clothes to keep the setting interesting. Blake does look beautiful though - I'd have to fine the stylist on this one.

Z for T

Alexander Wang, like always, picked another good one. Zoe Kravitz is the new face of Wang's T by Alexander Wang campaign. I love her rock-pretty look but I do have to say that she looks a little too similar in the majority of the images - she definitely sticks to her "good side."

Circus Freak

I Love Sasha Pivovarova by Anthony Ward for Harper's Bazaar. Looks like the chic female equivalent to "The Hangover." Paint covered, riding a lion and ending the evening in the bathtub - sounds like a fun night to me.

Fifth Annual Mad Hatter

Our fifth annual Mad Hatter party was a success! From a bevy of succulent appetizers to rich, homemade sangria, we made sure our guests left full and a smidge wobbly. Inside-out blazers and pocket squares, brims worthy of Churchill Downs and taffeta, of course, the taffets— we were quite a sight for sore eyes.

The long haul

This fall, it's all about dropping our summer hemlines - think tea length pin-tuck pleats, ankle grazing chiffon column skirts and body hugging sleeveless sweater maxis. Designers like Chloe and Marc Jacobs are all saying 'see ya' to the leggiest of legs in favor for a longer silhouette: from the 60's A-line, to the 70's hippie maxi, to the 90's Gothic coverall. Any way you dice it, the result is anything but a fabric reduction act.

Fashion for thought: falling for the gap

I think it is so interesting the way that society's parameters of beauty change with time and culture. Sure, Madonna's gap tooth smile became iconic to her, but for a long time, you didn't see young girls forgoing trips to the orthodontist. Now, all of the new 'it' models (like Abbey Lee Kershaw and Lara Stone) are flaunting and even showcasing their gaps. Same goes for Groucho Marx style eyebrows - Brooke Shields got away with it but every girl was still tweezing away. Now, it's en vogue to let your brows speak for themselves - and even give them a little feathered pencil help if you're not naturally gifted with an endowed brow. Fashion for thought.
